"The Voice" NBC's new singing competition series

"The Voice" is a vocal competition series modeled after Holland's top-rated vocal talent discovery show, "The Voice of Holland." Hosted by Carson Daly, the show features four musician coaches: Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who will coach only the most talented vocalists.

The show's innovative format features three stages of competition: the first begins with the blind audition, then the competition enters into a battle phase, and finally, the live performance. The show's casting team is working with the music industry and searching the country for the best singers to bring to the blind audition process. During the blind auditions, the decisions from the coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the contestants perform, but they don't get to see them - thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by a contestant's voice, he/she pushes a button to select the contestant. At this point, the coach's chair will swivel to face the contestant selected. If more than one coach selects the talent, the power shifts to the contestant, who may choose which coach they want to work with throughout the competition.

Once the teams are set, the battle is on. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their singers, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success. During the battle rounds the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal face-off, the coach must choose which singers will advance.

At the end of the battle episodes, only the strongest members of each coach's roster remain and proceed to the live stage shows. In this final performance phase of the competition, the top contestants from each team will compete against each other during a live broadcast. The television audience will vote to save one contestant on each team, leaving the coach to decide live who they want to save and who will not move on. At last, each coach will have his/her best contestant left standing to compete in the finale. From these four, one will be named "The Voice" - and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract and $100,000.

"The Voice" is a presentation of Talpa Productions, Mark Burnett and Warner Horizon Television. The series is created by John De Mol, who will executive produce along with Burnett and Audrey Morrissey.

The Voice features four celebrity coaches - Christina Aguilera

One of the most accomplished performers of the last decade, Christina Aguilera has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, achieved four No. 1 singles on the Billboard hot 100 chart, and has won five Grammy awards, as well as three top five albums in the United States. She has collaborated with Herbie Hancock, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett, Elton John and The Rolling Stones. Aguilera was also the only artist under 30 to make Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 100 greatest singers of all time.

In 2010 Aguilera starred in her first feature film, "Burlesque," opposite Cher and Stanley Tucci, earning a Golden Globe nomination for "Bound to You," which she co-wrote and performed. Earlier that same year, Aguilera launched her new album, "Bionic," collaborating with artists Sia, Le Tigre and Ladytron as well as producers Tricky Stewart and Hill/Switch.

The New York native's trajectory from performing in local talent shows in Pennsylvania, where she grew up, to getting her big break on "Star Search" in 1992 to landing a part on the Disney Channel's "The New Mickey Mouse Club," is well known. It was her song "Reflection" for Disney's "Mulan" that led to a record deal with RCA and the release of her self-titled debut album in the summer of 1999. The album quickly hit No. 1 on the strength of its first dance/pop single, "Genie in a Bottle" (which dominated the charts for five weeks and broke records worldwide) and other chart-toppers including "What a Girl Wants" and "Come on Over." It was a feat she would repeat the following year with "Mi Reflejo," the smash Spanish-language version of her debut, followed by her hit holiday release, "My Kind of Christmas."

In 2001 Aguilera joined forces with Pink, Mya and Lil' Kim on the smash "Lady Marmalade" single and video. Her second album, "Stripped," released in October 2002, sealed her status as an international superstar while transforming her image from bubble-gum pop princess to steamy sex kitten. Along with the superheated funk of the album's provocative debut single, "Dirrty," came such standout tracks as "Beautiful," "Can't Hold Us Down" and "Voice Within."

After sweeping the top of the charts with her third album, "Back to Basics," which debuted at No. 1 in August '06 and sold over 3.7 million worldwide, the unstoppable Aguilera announced a global tour. With the fashion legend Roberto Cavalli as the exclusive costume designer, choreographer and director Jamie King (Madonna, Janet Jackson and Prince) on board, and a unique stage design that allowed fans unprecedented access to the pop star, the shows were a feast for all senses and earned her rave reviews.

Earning her first of four Grammy awards in 2000 for Best New Artist, her subsequent trophies came in 2001 for "Lady Marmalade" (Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals), in 2003 for "Beautiful" (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance), and in 2007 for "Ain't No Other Man (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance), winning a Grammy for each of her albums. She is also the recipient of a 2001 Latin Grammy Award for Mi Reflejo (Best Female Pop Vocal Album), a 2000 Billboard Music Award for Female Artist of the Year, and two 2004 Rolling Stone Music Awards (Best Female Performer, Readers' Pick; and Best Tour, Readers' Pick, "Justified and Stripped"). Voted Sexiest Teen Idol in a VH1 poll, Aguilera's beauty and charisma have also led Teen People to list her among its 25 Hottest Stars Under 25 and Maxim to crown her Best International Female Singer (2000), one of the Sexiest Women of the Year (2003) and No. 1 on their Hot 100 list (2003). Aguilera has also been honored with two NRJ Awards (Best International Female, Best International Album) as well as a 2007 MTV Europe Award (Best Female Artist).

In 2007, Aguilera lent her hand to an entirely new production - an eponymous perfume, "Christina Aguilera," which she launched through P&G Prestige. The fragrance continues to be an international bestseller and has paved the way for two additional scents - "Inspire" and "By Night." In October 2010, Aguilera added a fourth fragrance to her line, "Royal Desire."

In January 2008, Aguilera gave birth to her first child, son Max Liron Bratman.

Today, while devoting the lion's share of her time to recording and touring, the 29-year-old is active in a range of philanthropy. In 2009 Aguilera joined forces with Yum! Brands in their World Hunger Relief effort, acting as global spokesperson. In less than one year she has created widespread awareness and deeper engagement to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies and helped to raise a record breaking $22.5 million in donations. In 2010 she was named an ambassador to the United Nations for her hard work and outreach. In addition, Aguilera and her son, Max, appeared in a PSA for Rock the Vote, encouraging young people to take a stand and vote for what they believe in. The ad, featuring Aguilera singing "America the Beautiful" to Max who is wrapped in an American flag, was included in magazines, television spots and billboards in Times Square. A major contributor to the fight against AIDS, Aguilera has participated in the What's Going On? cover project for AIDS Project Los Angeles' Artists Against AIDS. In 2004 she became the new face for MAC cosmetic company and spokesperson for the MAC AIDS Fund. In addition, Aguilera became involved in awareness campaigns with Youth AIDS and ALDO. She also sponsors and is actively involved in the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh for battered women and children.

Deepika Padukone has always been unapologetic about kissing her co-stars on screen. "I am comfortable doing kissing scenes," she had said some time ago. "Are you telling me that people in relationships just hold hands?"

Now it looks like she is equally comfortable kissing her beau in real life, too. And no matter that her father was present when she planted her smooch!

Deepika was celebrating the New Year in Copenhagen - the city she was born in - when beau Siddharth Mallya decided to surprise her with a lavish birthday party.

She was so impressed with the surprise that she planted a big, wet one on Siddharth, completely oblivious of the fact that her parents were at the party, too.

Reports also claim that the two lovebirds were caught romancing on the streets on Copenhagen, too.

We like people who throw caution to the winds and donĂ¢€™t hide behind the 'we are just friends' line.

John James Audubon Painting And Biography

Born: April 26, 1785
Les Cayes, Saint Dominigue (French colony)
Died: January 27, 1851
New York, New York
French-born American artist and ornithologist

American artist and ornithologist (one who studies birds) John James Audubon was a leading natural history artist who made drawings of birds directly from nature. He is mainly remembered for his  Birds of America  series.
Early life and move to France

John James Audubon was born in Saint Dominigue (now Haiti) on April 26, 1785. He was the son of Jean Audubon, a French adventurer, and Mademoiselle Rabin, about whom little is known except that she was a Creole and died soon after her son's birth. Audubon was an illegitimate child, meaning that his father was not married to his mother. Audubon's father had made his fortune in San Domingo as a merchant, a planter, and a dealer of slaves. In 1789 Audubon went with his father and a half sister to France, where they joined his father's wife. Their father and his wife adopted the children in 1794.

Audubon's education was arranged by his father. He was sent to a nearby school and was tutored in mathematics, geography, drawing, music, and fencing. According to Audubon's own account, he had no interest in school, preferring instead to fish, hunt, and explore the outdoors. He was left with his stepmother most of the time while his father served as a naval officer. Audubon became a spoiled, stubborn youth who managed to resist all efforts to both educate him and keep him under control. When residence at a naval base under his father's direct supervision failed to have any effect, he was sent briefly to Paris to study art, but he disliked that also.

Business career in America

Audubon's father decided to send his son to America, where he owned a farm near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At first the boy lived with friends of his father. They tried to teach him English and other things, but after a time he demanded to live on his father's farm. There Audubon continued living the life of a country gentleman—fishing, shooting, and developing his skill at drawing birds, the only occupation to which he was ever willing to give effort. When Audubon began his work in the early nineteenth century, there was no such profession as a "naturalist" in America. The men who engaged in natural history investigations came from all walks of life and paid for their work—collecting, writing, and publication—from their own resources. Audubon developed a system of inserting wires into the bodies of freshly killed birds in order to move them into natural poses for his sketches.

In 1805 Audubon returned briefly to France after a long battle with his father's business agent in America. While in France he formed a business partnership with Ferdinand Rozier, the son of one of his father's associates. Together the two returned to America and tried to operate a lead mine on the farm. Then in August 1807 the partners decided to move west. There followed a series of business failures in various cities in Kentucky, caused largely by Audubon's preference for roaming the woods rather than keeping the store. During this period he married Lucy Bakewell. After the failures with Rozier, Audubon, in association with his brother-in-law, Thomas Bakewell, and others, attempted to start several more businesses, the last being a lumber mill in Henderson, Kentucky. In 1819 this venture failed and Audubon was left with only the clothes on his back, his gun, and his drawings. This disaster ended his business career.

"Birds of America"

For a time Audubon made crayon portraits (drawings of individual people) for $5 per portrait. Then he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he became a taxidermist (one who stuffs and mounts the skins of animals) in the Western Museum that had been recently founded by Dr. Daniel Drake. In 1820 the possibility of publishing his bird drawings occurred to him. He set out down the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, exploring the country for new birds and paying his expenses by painting portraits. For a while he supported himself in New Orleans by tutoring and painting. His wife also worked as a tutor and later opened a school for girls. She became the family's main financial support while Audubon focused on publishing his drawings.

In 1824 Audubon went to Philadelphia to seek a publisher. He met with opposition, however, from the friends of Alexander Wilson (1766–1813), the other major American ornithologist with whom Audubon had begun a bitter rivalry in 1810. He finally decided to raise the money for a trip to Europe, where he felt he would find greater interest in his drawings. He arrived in Liverpool, England, in 1826, then moved on to Edinburgh, Scotland, and to London, England, signing up subscribers for his volumes in each city. Audubon finally reached an agreement with a London publisher, and in 1827 volumes of Birds of America began to appear. It took eleven years in all for the publication and reprintings of all the volumes.

The success of Audubon's bird drawings brought him immediate fame, and by 1831 he was considered the leading naturalist of his country, despite the fact that he possessed no formal scientific training. There was an intense popular interest in the marvels of nature during this era. Anyone who could capture the natural beauty of wild specimens was certain to take his place among the front ranks of those recognized as "men of science." Audubon had succeeded in giving the world the first great collection of American birds, drawn in their natural habitats as close to nature as possible.
Later years

With his great work finally finished in 1838, and the Ornithological Biography (a text-only book about birds) in publication, Audubon returned to America to prepare a "miniature" edition. He also began drawings for a new book (in collaboration with John Bachman), Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, for which his sons contributed many of the drawings.

In 1841 Audubon bought an estate on the Hudson River and settled down to advise and encourage young scientists. It was during this period that the romantic picture of Audubon as the "American Woodsman," the great lover of birds, began to emerge. After several years of illness, Audubon suffered a slight stroke in January 1851, followed by partial paralysis and great pain. Audubon died on January 27, 1851.

President Obama Visits Facebook Headquarters

President Barack Obama discussed the economy, technology, innovation and more during a packed town hall at Facebook headquarters.

Zuckerberg‘s first question to Obama focused on the economy and how the U.S. will turn things around while bringing down the deficit. He discussed rolling back tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals and cutting the budget to reduce the deficit. “We have a long-term problem with Medicare and Medicaid,” Obama noted, stating that “20% of the patients account for 80% of the cost” of most hospitals.

Most of the time though, President Obama addressed questions from the audience, as well as user-submitted questions collected via the web. During this line of questioning, Obama addressed the housing crisis, clean energy research, immigration policy, Medicare and education reform.

Many of the questions came from Facebook employees. One asked Obama about a recent budget proposal from representative Paul Ryan. The employee asked Obama if his budget plan was bold enough. “The Republican budget put forward is fairly radical,” Obama responded. “I wouldn’t call it particuarly courageous,” he added before continuing with criticism of the viability of Ryan’s plan.

Another question focused on how the government would slow the rise of health care costs. Obama responded by saying that the government should provide incentives to invest in new IT technology that would reduce costs.

At the end of the town hall meeting, Zuckerberg, who was uncharacteristically wearing a suit coat and tie, presented Obama with a uniform he’s more familiar with: a Facebook hoodie.

'Dead alien' found in Siberian snow

Body of dead alien 'found in Siberia'

It may just be an elaborate hoax, but a video has surfaced showing the body of an alien found dead in snow in Siberia.

The slender, badly damaged corpse was found lying on a bed of snow with its head to one side and mouth slightly open, the Daily Mail reported.

The video, posted on April 17 on YouTube, has already had over 100,000 views and showed the body of the unidentified "creature".

Irkutsk, Russia is apparently a known UFO hotspot, and UFO believers think the body was left behind by alien visitors after an accident, or was missed in a clean-up by the Russian government as part of some sort of alien cover-up.

Dozens of UFO sightings are reported every year in the area, and only last month there were reports of an unidentified object hurtling into the nearby Irkutsk region of Siberia.

"We couldn't believe it when we saw it. And what was spooky is that there was no sign of the spaceship. Perhaps that was taken away and the body overlooked," said Igor Molovic, one of the pair that uploaded the video.
However, not everyone is a true believer.

Some believe it is actually a carefully crafted model of an alien's body, and not the real deal.

However, many UFO lovers still believe.

A BIZARRE video claiming to show alien remains in a UFO hotspot has become a massive worldwide hit with hundreds of thousands of followers.

The short clip, shot by two walkers in Irkutsk in Russia's remote Siberia, shows what appears to be the badly damaged corpse of a two foot high alien half buried in the snow.

Part of the right leg is missing and there are deep holes for eyes and a mouth in a skull-like head.

UFO fans believe the body could have been left behind by ET visitors after an accident, or missed by Russian military alien experts clearing up after a crash, reports the Austrian Times.

The area is a known UFO hotspot with dozens of sightings reported every year.

"We couldn't believe it when we saw it. And what was spooky is that there was no sign of the spaceship.

"Perhaps that was taken away and the body overlooked," said Igor Molovic, one of the pair that uploaded the video, now seen by nearly 700,000 people within a few days.

Skeptics claim the video is a fake using a carefully staged model for the ET's body.

But one fan wrote: "It's so lame how people always get thrilled by having another excuse to shout 'Fake! fake!' every time something weird shows up.

INCREDIBLE footage has emerged of what a group of Russians claim to be the remains of a mangled alien.

The lifeless 'body' was supposedly discovered lying in snow in the Irkutsk region of southern Siberia following reports of a UFO crash last month.

The 'extra-terrestrial' appears to have suffered horrific injuries - including the loss of one limb.

Shocked villagers had told of seeing a pink and blue glowing object hurtling towards the town before the 'alien' was found.

"Unless proven otherwise, this is in fact plausible."
The bizarre reports were taken so seriously, they were investigated by the country's Emergencies Ministry staff.

The mystery deepened when investigators said no aircrafts were reported in the area.

And search and rescue teams found no evidence of an aircraft crash.

The strange clip has now been seen by nearly 900,000 people since Sunday.

But cynical YouTube viewers have claimed it is an elaborate fake.

One blogger said: "This has got to be a hoax. Why do all aliens have to be naked."

"If this is fake - then they are masters at models/puppets, I think it's real - one of the very few, great vid.," said another.

poonam pandey naked or Strip not mention her promise on her Twitter

However, Poonam made no mention of her promise on her Twitter page.

"and the MAGIC WORKED!!!! :) Thanx lot guys for such Lovely Replys," was her latest tweet (11.14 pm. Saturday)

Before that, her response to India's s victory had been:

"wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and "Vande Mataram!!!"

This was despite the model reiterating her promise early Thursday. "3 days to go to Complete my Promise to INDIA :)" she tweeted, a few hours after India thrashed Pakistan by 29 runs in the semifinal held in Mohali, near Chandigarh.

A few hours later, she posted: "I am a New Generaion Girl!!! Any thing for my Country to get Home the World Cup So INDIA Cheer with me That we need 1983 BACK..."

She is not the first one to pledge to go naked or Nude if her country wins.

Model Larissa Riquelme had promised to run nude if her country, Paraguay, won the football World Cup last year. Paraguay lost, but she ran naked anyway.

For all those who have been wondering what happened to Poonam Pandey's vow to strip and run in the buff after India's victory in the World Cup final, here's some dope - the young model hints that she will fulfil her pledge soon.

"Thanx a Lot All for ur Support!! I am Still on with My Commitments Stay TUNED," Pandey posted on her Twitter page Monday.

The 19-year-old, who participated in last year's Gladrags' model hunt contest, offered to go nude for the cricket team just before the semifinal against Pakistan in Mohali.

But later, she issued a statement saying she would go ahead with her promise only if the BCCI permits.
