Blast In Delhi 4 dead 30 injured At 10:15 am

New Delhi: A blast took place at 10:15 am this morning at  the Delhi High Court at Gate no 5. A police official said 4 dead and 30 people have been injured; some of them have reportedly been seriously burnt.

The bomb was reportedly kept in a suitcase near a counter where those entering the court get passes made that permit entry into court.

The explosion occurred outside gate No 5 where 100 to 200 people were waiting in queue to get passes for entry into the court complex.

As per eyewitnesses, the blast was very loud and powerful. Police are not ruling out the possibility of the blast being a terrorist attack. The bomb is said to have been placed in a suitcase and left near gate number five of the court.

The death toll was confirmed by Home Secretary RK Singh.

Amid pandemonium, the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals like Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital.

Gate number five of the High Court is near the reception, and is very crowded in the mornings as people queue up to gain entry into the court.

Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta is at the spot. The entire area has been cordoned off; forensics teams are already at work to collect evidence.

When quizzed by reporters whether it was an intelligence failure, Bansal said, “There was no specific intelligence input regarding today’s blast but this aspect will certainly be probed by investigating agencies.”

“It would be too early to say anything as to who is behind the blast as all important cites are generally on terrorists’’ hit list,” Bansal said, adding, “An alert has been sounded in the entire city.”

On May 25, a blast had ripped through the parking lot of the High Court, but the police are yet to crack the case.

As per the people who were present in the court that day as well, today’s blast is more powerful than the last one.
